Singleton to Host Event to Aid Residents in Signing up for Health Insurance under Affordable Care Act

Event will help answer questions and guide families to a plan that's right for them
Assemblyman and Senator-elect Troy Singleton will host an informational session in Willingboro to help interested constituents navigate the often confusing process of signing up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

The health insurance enrollment event and information session will take place on Sunday, Nov. 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at JFK Center, 429 John F. Kennedy Way, Willingboro, NJ.

"We know how vital health insurance is to working families and this already complicated process has only been made worse by the lack of assistance coming from the federal government," said Singleton (D-Burlington). "We want to make sure that anyone in need of health insurance has all the resources and tools at their disposal to choose a plan that is best for them and their family. A healthier New Jersey means a stronger New Jersey and we are committed to that principle."

During the event, residents can learn about health care options for 2018, hear the latest news on the Affordable Care Act, have questions answered about health insurance, and receive assistance in signing up for a plan that works for them.

Those interested in attending should RSVP by phone or hotline at: 856-234-2790 or www.assemblymansingleton.com/aca.

The event is being co-sponsored by Singleton along with AmeriHealth New Jersey, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and The New Jersey Association of Health Plans.

"New Jerseyans who buy individual health insurance are as enthusiastic as ever to secure coverage for 2018 and we applaud Senator-elect Singleton for helping people understand their options, their eligibility for tax credits, and how they can maintain quality coverage that is affordable," said Michael Considine, vice president for Consumer, Small Group and Mid-Size Market Units at Horizon BCBSNJ. "This is the fifth open enrollment and individual buyers are better understanding that federal tax credits can lower premiums. Horizon also reminds all consumers that their health insurance covers them not only when they get sick, but includes wellness benefits that help them stay healthy."

"AmeriHealth New Jersey appreciates Assemblyman Singleton's efforts to organize an event that will provide Burlington County residents with important resources during Open Enrollment," said Mike Munoz, market president of AmeriHealth New Jersey. "We're proud to be a part of this event, which will enable us to educate and empower people as they make decisions about their health care."

"The New Jersey Association of Health Plans is pleased to partner with Assemblyman Singleton to help get New Jersey covered," said Sarah M. Adelman, Vice President, New Jersey Association of Health Plans. "Burlington County residents obtaining health insurance from the Affordable Care Act can choose from two insurance carriers, offering several health plan options at different coverage levels (Gold, Silver, Bronze, and, if eligible, Catastrophic). However, the sign-up period is shorter than in past years, so it is important to protect your health and act quickly to obtain coverage for next year."
