Spearman Sworn in as Newest Member of General Assembly
Represents New Jersey's 5th District in Camden and Gloucester Counties
(TRENTON) - Vowing to fight for affordable housing, education funding, tax relief, environmental protection and women and minority owned businesses, William Spearman took the oath to join the New Jersey General Assembly on Saturday, representing the 5th legislative district in Camden and Gloucester Counties.
"This is truly a great honor to be able to join this esteemed body, and it is a privilege I don't take lightly," said Spearman. "I am excited to get to work and serve the citizens of Camden and Gloucester Counties."
Prior to joining the General Assembly, Spearman worked as an Ethics Liaison Officer for the South Jersey Transportation Authority (SJTA) for nearly 5 years, ensuring that the SJTA complies with all state ethics laws, rules and regulations.
Spearman worked for the SJTA for over 10 years in total.
"I look forward to taking my expertise in transportation and ethics to Trenton," said Spearman. "I believe these are areas where I will be able to excel to serve the people of our great state, and I'm greatly looking forward to that."
This is not, however, Spearman's first foray into politics. He served on the Camden City Council for 5 years from November 2006 until December 2011.
"I am excited for this opportunity, and I humbled and grateful to be able to serve the people of New Jersey."
