Greenwald, Prieto & Riley: Substantial Progress in 'Essential' Higher Education Restructuring Plan Encouraging
(TRENTON)--Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald (D-Camden/Burlington), Assembly Chairman Vincent Prieto (D-Hudson/Bergen) and Higher Education Chairwoman Celeste Riley (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland) issued the following statement regarding proposed higher education restructuring in New Jersey:
"Given where this process began and the thoughtful, constructive dialogue it has evoked from the higher education community, it is clear that introduction of legislation in the Legislature represents substantial progress toward a plan that gives all our students world-class higher educational opportunities--regardless of region, county or ZIP code.
"We believe it is essential to find a higher education solution that gives our students the reDests they need to achieve their dreams right here in New Jersey. For too many years, our state's students have been denied the full state support and reDests they need to pursue those dreams. Introduction of legislation developed by working closely with stakeholders and advocates represents a positive step forward in our goal of improving higher education for all New Jersey students.
"We recognize that there is still work to do on this essential issue, and we look forward to working with the Senate and our leadership team to achieve the goal of giving New Jersey students the top-notch higher education opportunities they deserve."
