Greenwald: Christie's Selective Amnesia on Tampa Try-Out Tour the "Definition of Chutzpah"
(VOORHEES) - Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald (D-Camden/Burlington) issued the following statement Thursday upon news that Governor Christie had attacked President Obama at a Mitt Romney fundraiser for the national unemployment rate remaining over 8 percent, when New Jersey's unemployment rate rose to 9.6 percent in June under Christie:
"As if vetoing property tax relief for New Jersey's middle-class families wasn't enough, Chris Christie's specious attack on the president's job creation record in light of his own failure to create jobs here in New Jersey is the definition of chutzpah. Under this governor, New Jersey's unemployment rate trails our neighboring states and lags the national average by a full point. Our friends and neighbors continue to suffer under his economic policies while he is trotting around the country in search of speaking opportunities.
"Despite his bipartisan rhetoric, Governor Christie has vetoed major job creation initiatives in New Jersey and our sky-high unemployment rate is the result. It's clear that the Governor is more interested in preening for the national media spotlight than working to create jobs for New Jersey's middle-class.
"Perhaps if Governor Christie approached job creation and middle-class property tax relief with the same zeal he's had for protecting tax cuts for millionaires, New Jersey wouldn't have ranked 47th in the nation in economic growth last year."
