New Jersey Assembly to Meet at Noon Monday to Consider Creating Special Joint Investigatory Committee with Subpoena Power

(TRENTON) - The New Jersey General Assembly will meet at noon Monday to consider legislation creating an Assembly-Senate joint investigatory committee focused on questions surrounding the decision to close access lanes to the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee and concerns about abuse of government power.
The joint legislative committee would have subpoena power and utilize the special counsel already brought on by the Assembly - former Assistant U.S. Attorney Reid Schar.
It would be co-chaired Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D-Middlesex) and Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (D-Bergen).
The Monday session is scheduled for noon in the Assembly chamber at the State House.
The 20 subpoenas issued last week by the Assembly Select Committee on Investigations remain pending. They seek documents and materials by Feb. 3.
