Lagana Appointed by Prieto to Serve on Several Key Assembly Panels as He Begins His First Legislative Term
Assemblyman Joseph Lagana has been appointed by Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto to serve on several key legislative committees that will benefit from the experience he has gained in his professional background.
Diving into his role as one of the Assembly's newest members, Lagana will serve on the Assembly's Financial Institutions and Insurance, Judiciary and Appropriations committees.
"We're eager to have Assemblyman Lagana lend his professional expertise to these legislative panels. I am confident that he will be a tremendous asset to these committees and serve the people of New Jersey well in this capacity," said Speaker Prieto (D-Bergen/Hudson).
Lagana, 35, won a full term to the Assembly in the general election in November, filling the seat that had been vacated by the retirement of Assemblywoman Connie Wagner. Prior to being elected to the Assembly he served two years as a Paramus councilman, including a term as Council President and Budget Chair where he worked with members of both parties to craft consecutive budgets with no increased spending.
Lagana practices law with the Secaucus-based firm Chasan Leyner & Lamparello, PC where he specializes in insurance and labor-related litigation matters. Prior to going into private practice, Lagana clerked for Bergen County Superior Court Judge John A. Conte.
"I'm grateful for the Speaker's confidence in me to serve on these important Assembly committees," said Lagana (D-Bergen/Passaic). "I'm eager to get to work with my colleagues to help make New Jersey a more affordable, fair and practical place for families to live."
Lagana represents the 38th legislative district, which includes the towns of Bergenfield, Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, Hasbrouck Heights, Hawthorne, Lodi, Maywood, New Milford, Oradell, Paramus, River Edge, Rochelle Park, Saddle Brook.
