Wisniewski Praises New Jersey Turnpike Authority Approval of Cost-Sharing Agreement with Sayreville Seaport Associates

Agreement Marks Major Milestone in Redevelopment of Former National Lead Site
SAYREVILLE, NJ - Deputy Speaker John S. Wisniewski praised yesterday's approval by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority Board of Commissioners of a cost-sharing agreement with Sayreville Seaport Associates, L.P. for the design and construction of local road improvements to Interchange 125 of the Garden State Parkway. These improvements will facilitate the successful redevelopment of the former National Lead site in Sayreville.

"With today's approval of this cost-sharing agreement, the redevelopment of the former National Lead site has achieved another major milestone in the effort to restore this long-blighted parcel as an active part of the Sayreville community," said Assemblyman Wisniewski. "In the short-term, it will create construction jobs and in the long-term will provide significant economic and recreational opportunities for area residents."

Plans for the redevelopment of the 425 acre site in Sayreville include a mix of retail and office space as well as age-restricted housing. The redevelopment project is also expected to provide the local community with recreational and open space, including a marina and waterfront promenade. When fully developed, the project is expected to generate revenues that will help stabilize local property taxes in Sayreville.

"The redevelopment of the National Lead site has been a difficult journey that has required the dedication and tenacity of a wide range of partners," added Assemblyman Wisniewski. "I am proud to have played a significant role in its progress and look forward to the day when we can all celebrate its successful conclusion."
