Associate Executive Director for Communications


The Associate Executive Director for Communications oversees the daily operations of the Assembly Majority Office’s communications department and is responsible for formulating and executing caucus-wide media strategies. He also serves as the media advisor for the Democratic caucus.


Tom Hester, Jr., covered the Governor's Office and the Legislature for The Associated Press from 2006 until August 2008. Prior to that, he worked at The Times of Trenton from 1998 to 2006, serving the final two years as the paper's State House bureau chief. Mr. Hester also wrote a weekly column for the paper, covered Trenton City Hall and worked as an assistant metro editor for the paper’s Trenton and Hamilton editions.

Mr. Hester also worked at The Express-Times in Easton, Pa., from 1995 to 1998, including a stint as New Jersey bureau chief, and the weekly Hunterdon County Democrat.

Born in Jersey City, Mr. Hester was raised in Flemington and lives in Lawrenceville with his wife and two daughters.


Mr. Hester attended Syracuse University and graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in communications.
