A Press Secretary serves as a liaison between Assembly members and reporters and helps create messages to communicate Assembly Democratic Views to constituencies. Work products include press releases, op-eds, letters to the editor, speeches, press conferences and media appearances.
Prior to joining the Assembly Majority Office, Eva Loayza worked as promotions manager for the Trenton Downtown Association, a nonprofit working for the betterment of downtown Trenton, from 2008 to May 2011. Previously, she worked at The Times of Trenton from 2001 to 2008 where she covered municipal government and schools. She covered Trenton City Hall in her last four years with the Times, and was part of the reporting team that took first place in the category of Responsible Journalism, Public Service (Lloyd P. Burns Memorial Award) in the 2007 New Jersey Press Association Better Newspaper Contest.
Born in Peru, Ms. Loayza was raised in Lima before immigrating to Paterson, NJ with her family. She currently resides in Trenton.
Ms. Loayza graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
