Mary Alice Messenger
The Executive Director of the Assembly Majority Office is responsibel for the daily operations and management of the office.
Mary Alice Messenger was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey and raised in Old Bridge.
Ms. Messenger became the executive director of the Assembly Majority Office on July 5, 2015.
Prior to this roll, she served as the chief of staff to Assembly Speaker Prieto, the executive director of the AMO in 2013, and was responsible for the preparation, deliberation and execution of the Assembly’s legislative budget review process and the crafting of the Annual Appropriations Act and assisted in the oversight of the office's research activities and committee operations and undertook special projects on behalf of the Speaker.
Ms. Messenger has worked in the New Jersey Legislature for almost her entire professional career, after brief stints as a tennis instructor, band manager and substitute special education teacher.
Ms. Messenger has helped craft over 25 state budgets since working for the New Jersey General Assembly.
In her spare time, Ms. Messenger serves as the team leader for the Legislature's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). She lives in Bordentown with her husband, Robert, and their cats, Tsunami and Hannibal.
Ms. Messenger graduated from the College of William and Mary in Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and philosophy.
