Caride Statement on Assembly School Funding Hearing

‘This is all about the future of children and our state and helping long-struggling taxpayers’

(TRENTON) – Assembly Education Chairwoman Marlene Caride (D-Passaic/Bergen) released the following statement Wednesday after the committee heard from education experts on issues related to school funding in New Jersey:

“I want to thank everyone who came to testify today to provide input on the various concerns about school funding in New Jersey. The testimony we heard today will be invaluable as move forward in this open and transparent approach to addressing school funding in our state.
“We know the current school funding system doesn’t work as it was intended. This hasn’t been fair to both children and taxpayers and we need to find ways to fix it, while making it equitable to everyone. We cannot approach this with predetermined ideas about the outcome. Fair funding for all schools throughout the New Jersey is a must. This is all about the future of children and our state and helping long-struggling taxpayers.
“We need to be working together, and today’s hearing was a great step in that right direction as we move toward considering solutions. I especially look forward to hearing from the public next when we soon convene our next hearings.”
