(POMPTON LAKES) – Assemblyman Timothy Eustace (D-Bergen, Passaic) urged Pompton Lakes’ residents on Monday to send into the state their written concerns regarding the recently announced plan to address groundwater contamination in the town.
The state Department of Environmental Protection held a hearing in Pompton Lakes on Tuesday, September 26 to publicly hear concerns from area residents on the Chemours Company’s plan to clean up the contaminated water caused by a nearby DuPont site. Over 100 residents attended the DEP hearing.
Assemblyman Eustace, who is chair of the Assembly Environmental Committee, held a press conference on Thursday October 12 at Terhune Memorial to discuss his concerns.
“The plan does not go far enough and there are still many questions which residents’ deserve to have answered,” said Eustace. “Residents are still able to share their concerns with the state during the public comment period. I encourage residents to submit their concerns to the state over the next two weeks.”
The public comment period for the Discharge to Ground Water Permit by Rule application will end October 26, 2017. The comments can be submitted to:
