Tully Celebrates NJ STEM Month with Tour of NJ-NEST

Assemblyman Chris Tully, chair of the Assembly Science, Innovation and Technology Committee, alongside Vice Chair Assemblywoman Linda Carter and Assemblywoman Ellen Park, on Wednesday visited New Jersey North Ecosystem, “NJ-NEST”, at Bergen Community College to celebrate NJ STEM Month and learn about STEM education opportunities available to students in New Jersey. The Bergen County Community College recently launched a new cybersecurity education track to prepare students for jobs in the ever-evolving technology economy.

“It’s great to visit an organization dedicated to promoting STEM education initiatives and getting students throughout the State excited about STEM fields,” said Tully (D-Bergen, Passaic). “We must encourage younger generations to pursue careers in science and technology. NJ-NEST does important work generating excitement and promoting educational opportunities for our students. With its help, New Jersey’s science and technology industry will continue to grow.”

NJ-NEST at Bergen Community College is one of six STEM learning ecosystems expanding the STEM education-to-workforce pipeline supported by the Research & Development Council of New Jersey.

“NJ STEM Month is an annual celebration in March initiated by the Research & Development Council of New Jersey that sheds light on the transformative work in STEM like that being done by New Jersey’s six ecosystems across the state,” said Kim Case, Executive Director of the R&D Council of New Jersey. “In 2022, STEM Month’s goal is to impact 35,000 learners and the New Jersey North Ecosystem (‘NJ-NEST’) led by Bergen Community College is helping to reach that goal by offering high-quality STEM programming.”
