Sumter Joins Call for Sheriff's Saudino's Resignation

(TRENTON) - Assembly Majority Conference Leader Shavonda Sumter (D-Passaic/Bergen) released the following statement Friday regarding Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino:

"When you are one of the top law officers in the state and exhibit such racism, bigotry and hatred, the communities you serve can no longer place their full trust in you to do your job with fairness and unprejudiced.

"These remarks not only hurt the people at which they are directed. They hurt the officers who work hard every day to build relationships and trust between law enforcement and our communities.

"The right thing to do right now is for Sheriff Saudino to hand in his resignation."
