Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver Gives Keynote Address
With the goal of promoting awareness and prevention, expanding knowledge, providing resources, and fostering lasting relationships that will benefit the health, education and overall well-being of the prenatal to age three population, Assemblywomen Cleopatra G. Tucker (D-Essex), Shanique Speight (D-Essex) and Britnee N. Timberlake (D-Essex, Passaic) hosted a free summit on Saturday, 10/20, at NJIT.
"We want to engage the community by offering programs that educate and encourage action," said Assemblywoman Tucker. "We want to foster dialogue that will help us create legislation that meets the needs of women and children in our state."
"If we don't have healthy parents, we don't have healthy babies," said Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver, who gave the keynote address at the summit. "And if we don't have healthy babies, we don't have healthy communities."
The summit also included a panel discussion, information from community-based organizations, resource packets, vendors, and a complimentary lunch. NJIT was the host sponsor, and RWJBarnabas Health, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, UnitedHealthcare and University Hospital were also sponsors.
