Chiaravalloti, Spearman & Mosquera Statement on Assembly Committee Approval of Legislation Prioritizing NJOneApp
Assembly Democrats Nicholas Chiaravalloti (D-Hudson), William Spearman (D-Camden/Gloucester) and Gabriela Mosquera (D-Camden/Gloucester) released the following statement regarding the Assembly Human Services Committee's approval of AJR-175, a resolution that urges the Chief Innovation Officer of the Office of Information Technology to prioritize enhancement of NJOneApp and to include all state anti-hunger programs:
"NJOneApp currently provides for an easy to understand, easy to use outlet for our residents to see if they qualify for food assistance programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), and General Assistance through Work First New Jersey.
"This resolution asks for focus to be put on a new, more efficient design of NJOneApp along with the inclusion of all anti-hunger programs. By adding these programs to the application, residents can take full advantage of government services with just a few clicks on their cell phone as opposed to what can sometimes be a stressful, time-consuming application process. Our main goal with this piece of legislation is to help improve the lives of those struggling with food insecurities throughout our state by streamlining the process by which they get the assistance they need."
