Greenwald & Lampitt Statement on Increased Funding for Cherry Hill School District

(TRENTON) - In response to school funding projections under Governor Phil Murphy's proposed budget, which would grant more funding to the Cherry Hill School District than ever before, Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald (D-Camden, Burlington) and Assemblywoman Pamela Lampitt (D-Camden, Burlington) released the following statement:

"After working for many years with grassroots organizations like the Fair Funding for Cherry Hill Schools Committee to help Cherry Hill school district end nearly a decade of chronic underfunding, last year we were able to reform the school funding formula to ensure that Cherry Hill receives its fair share in state school aid. We are pleased to see that Cherry Hill schools are estimated to receive approximately$18.4 million in state aid this year; the most the district has ever received. This remarkable accomplishment has been the product of tireless efforts to get schools like Cherry Hill the funding they need and deserve, a problem that had been exacerbated by the policies of the previous administration.
"We will continue to ensure Cherry Hill schools - along with all other school districts in New Jersey - are fully and fairly funded. Cherry Hill will continue to see annual increases in state aid and is on track to be fully funded at about $29.3 million by the year 2025, according to the funding formula.

"Last week, we met personally with the Fair Funding for Cherry Hill Schools Committee to thank them for their efforts over the years and their continued advocacy. We applaud the committee for raising their voices to benefit all current and future Cherry Hill students, and look forward to working together to help our schools continue to thrive."
