Armato and Mazzeo Statement on Opening Date for Atlantic City Rail Line

In response to today’s announcement by Governor Phil Murphy that the Atlantic City Rail Line will reopen May 12, Assemblyman John Armato (D-Atlantic) and Vince Mazzeo (D-Atlantic) released the following statement:

“While we still believe it should not have taken nearly nine months to complete the federally mandated safety technology installation – almost five months longer than NJ Transit originally promised – we are relieved the rail line will resume service just in time for the busy tourism season. Two new casinos, sports betting and existing attractions will undoubtedly make Atlantic City an attractive summer destination.

“At long last, Atlantic County commuters can see a light at the end of the tunnel. In less than a month, the Atlantic City Rail Line will be back up and running and normalcy will be restored for the countless daily passengers who depend on the train to get to work, school or home each day.

“We stand ready to hold NJ Transit to the May 12 opening date. Atlantic County riders cannot and should not have to wait any longer.”
