Armato and Mazzeo Urge Residents to Turn In Unwanted Medicine on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Ahead of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Assemblymen Vince Mazzeo (D-Atlantic) and John Armato (D-Atlantic) released the following joint statement:

“Far too often, opioid addiction begins with a single bottle of pills left in a home medicine cabinet. Prescription drugs have a nasty habit of falling into the wrong hands, whether by accident or otherwise. In order to prevent misuse or overdose, unwanted prescription drugs must be safely disposed.

“National Prescription Drug Take Back Day offers everyone a chance to clean out their medicine cabinets of unused or expired prescription drugs. The effort organized by the Drug Enforcement Agency collects these drugs and safely disposes of them with the goal of saving lives and protecting the environment.

“As we continue to fight the opioid epidemic, we urge all New Jerseyans to take advantage of this opportunity to remove dangerous drugs from their homes. To find a drop-off site near you on Saturday, visit takebackday.dea.gov.”

Assemblymen Armato and Mazzeo, in partnership with Join Together Atlantic County, offer free drug disposal bags at their office at 2312 New Rd. Northfield, NJ 08225.
