Assembly Homeland Security Chair McKnight Urges Vigilance Amidst FBI Reports of Planned Protests

Asks Residents to Report Any Information to NJOHSP Hotline

Chair of the Assembly Homeland Security and Preparedness Committee, Assemblywoman Angela V. McKnight, issued the following statement on Monday in light of a recent FBI report informing the public of a series of planned mass protests in all 50 states leading up to the Presidential Inauguration on January 20:

“The FBI is reporting that armed protests are being planned in all 50 states in the days before the Presidential Inauguration. We’ve seen the wreckage left by rioters at the Capitol last week and mourn the loss of life. We must work together New Jersey to ensure our citizens, and our capitol remain safe.

“The times we are in right now are unprecedented; extremely troubling for a country that continues to work to save lives in its second year of a pandemic and, these times, require steadfast vigilance from each of us.

“I urge any New Jersey resident who sees anything or learns of any information in relation to these events to please contact the hotline offered by the NJ Department of Homeland Security, 1-866-4-SAFE-NJ (1-866-472-3365) immediately.
