ASSEMBLY PANEL TO DELVE INTO CHRISTIE PLANS TO PRIVATIZE TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

(TRENTON) – The Assembly Transportation, Public Works and Independent Authorities Committee on Thursday will discuss and take testimony on plans by the Christie administration to privatize various transportation services.
“We’ve seen many examples, including several here in New Jersey, of privatizing transportation services, and most have gone terribly awry,” said Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D-Middlesex), the panel’s chairman. “Based on what we’ve seen so far from the administration, we have little reason to have confidence it can handle privatizing transportation services without hurting taxpayers and commuters. We’re looking for some answers to find out exactly what the administration’s plan will be moving forward.”
The hearing is set for 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16 in Committee Room 11, 4th floor, State House Annex in Trenton.
It will be streamed live at: http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/media/live_audio.asp.
