(TRENTON) – The Assembly Budget Committee will meet Tuesday to move several job creation and economic development bills as part of the Assembly Democratic effort to reinvigorate New Jersey’s lagging economy.
Assembly Democratic leadership announced the jobs focus earlier this week. The Assembly’s Dec. 17 voting session will be devoted to moving numerous job creation measures.
“Recovering from Sandy must include a vigorous job creation and economic development initiative,” said Assembly Budget Chairman Vincent Prieto (D-Hudson/Bergen). “The two must go together. Our lagging economy and high unemployment was a concern before the storm, and it remains so now, so let’s get this done for the good of everyone in New Jersey.”
New Jersey’s unemployment rate is at 9.7 percent, compared to a national average of 7.7 percent.
The Assembly Budget Committee will meet on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 10 a.m. in Committee Room 11 on the 4th Floor of the State House Annex in Trenton.
