Assembly Passes Caputo & Murphy Measure to Extend the Deadline for the New Jersey Racing Commission’s Annual Report

(TRENTON) – To ensure that the New Jersey Racing Commission (NJRC) is able to conduct their annual audit report properly and accurately, Assembly Democrats Ralph Caputo (D-Essex) and Carol Murphy (D-Burlington) sponsor a measure passed by the Assembly on Thursday 75-0 to change the date in which the NJRC annual report is due.

The bill (A-5439) would change the date on which the New Jersey Racing Commission’s annual report is due from the end of the calendar year to the end of the State fiscal year.  Changing the date to the end of the State fiscal year would eliminate the need for the Commission to file multiple, incomplete reports that are currently required.

Upon Assembly approval of the measure, Assembly members Caputo and Murphy issued the following joint statement:

“Changing the due date of the report to the end of the State fiscal year would make the reporting process much more effective.  Much of the data needed in the annual audit report is not available until March and this bill would allow the commission to file a complete report with all the essential data.”

The measure is also sponsored by Ronald Dancer (R-Burlington, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean).
