Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin today announced the appointment of Kevin McArdle as the new communications director for the New Jersey Assembly Majority Office.
McArdle will take on the responsibility of highlighting and promoting the legislative efforts of the 54-member caucus.
McArdle brings a wealth of experience in both traditional media and corporate communications to the majority office. A known and respected figure in the State House, McArdle spent 14 years as a reporter at NJ 101.5 before managing public affairs for Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.
“I’m proud to have someone on our team with the expertise, intelligence and professionalism that Kevin possesses,” said Speaker Coughlin (D-Middlesex). “He will be an asset to our outstanding communications team and also to our caucus, as we continue to promote an agenda of affordability for middle-class families in New Jersey.”
McArdle will be joining Regina Wilder and Eva Loayza who are deputy communication directors. Wilder previously served as senior communications specialist, and Loayza served as press secretary.
Liza Acevedo will also join the communications team and serve as Speaker Coughlin’s strategic communications advisor and spokesperson. Acevedo previously served as communications director for New York State Senator Michael Gianaris, and most recently as deputy press secretary for Governor Phil Murphy.
Acevedo previously interned for the Hillary for America presidential campaign and United States Representative Yvette Clarke. She is a graduate of Wheaton College (MA).
“Liza has experience developing communication strategies, which will be instrumental in getting our message out and ensuring it reaches the people we want it to reach,” said Speaker Coughlin. “I’m happy to have her round out our communications team, as we work to keep New Jerseyans informed about the work we are doing on their behalf in the Assembly.”
