(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto (D-Hudson/Bergen) released the following statement Friday on the passing of retired Supreme Court Justice Marie L. Garibaldi:
“I am very saddened to hear of the passing of Justice Garibaldi. We have lost a true trailblazer in our state’s history.
“Justice Garibaldi didn’t just personally break through the glass ceiling. She shattered it to pieces, in her service before, during and after her time on the state’s Supreme Court. As the chief justice reminded us today, she wrote more than 225 legal opinions and served on more than 50 committees that helped shape today’s judiciary.
“Her legacy is undeniable.
“On behalf of a grateful New Jersey General Assembly, I offer our thoughts and prayers to Justice Garibaldi’s family, friends and colleagues. They have our condolences. She will not be forgotten.”
