Assembly Transportation Chairman Renews Commitment to Improving Transportation in NJ After Governor’s Budget Address

Assemblyman Daniel Benson (D-Mercer, Middlesex), chair of the Assembly Transportation Committee and member of the Assembly Budget Committee, released the following statement in response to Governor Phil Murphy’s budget address:

“Today we begin the rigorous process of drafting a State budget that prioritizes the needs of working class families in New Jersey.

“As chair of the Transportation Committee, I will advocate for commuters across the state throughout this process, particularly those who depend on public transportation through NJ Transit. I’m pleased the Governor’s proposed budget includes an additional $132 million for NJ Transit; the future of the agency depends on our continued investment.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues to facilitate a fair and transparent process that ensures the public’s voices are heard.”
