Assemblyman Spearman on Assembly Budget Committee Hearing Regarding NJ’s Fiscal Budget

Members of the Assembly Budget Committee received testimony on the state’s 2020 and 2021 fiscal year budgets today from the State Treasurer and the Office of Legislative Services. Upon hearing their testimony and reviewing the Treasurer’s report, Assemblyman Spearman (D-Camden, Gloucester), who sits on the committee, released the following statement:

“I was honored to attend my first Assembly Budget Committee Meeting today at such a crucial time in our state’s history. The current public health crisis has placed New Jersey in an unprecedented economic situation that will require careful consideration.

“I appreciate the opportunity to advocate for small business support and closing the digital divide, among other crucial investments. We will take the information we received today into account as we move forward with the decision-making process for our state’s upcoming budget.

“We will do everything in our power to act wisely and responsibly on behalf of residents. Thank you to both the Office of Legislative Services and State Treasurer Elizabeth Muoio for taking the time to speak with us today.”
