BARNES ANNOUNCES TOWN HALL MEETING ON UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL

(EDISON) — Assemblyman Peter J. Barnes III (D-Edison) joined Senator Barbara Buono, Assemblyman Patrick J. Diegnan, Mayor Antonia Ricigliano and the Edison Municipal Council to announce a town hall meeting to discuss programs regarding the removal of potentially hazardous underground storage tanks.

“We want citizens to be informed about the danger to surrounding areas that can be caused when these underground tanks rupture and what action should be taken in terms of prevention,” said Barnes.

The seminar will take place on March 18th in the Edison Council Chambers. The three legislators of New Jersey’s 18th District will also be joined by representatives from both the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). The panel will also discuss available funding grants.

“The meeting will allow the citizens affected to raise questions regarding procedures and requirements surrounding underground tank removal. It is important for residents to be informed and to allow them to voice their concerns,” added Charles Tomaro, Council President of Edison.
