BARNES: CHRISTIE BUDGET AN ASSAULT ON MIDDLE-CLASS AND SENIOR CITIZENS

(TRENTON) — Assemblyman Peter J. Barnes III (D-Middlesex) released the following statement Wednesday as the Assembly Budget Committee heard testimony from the state treasurer on Gov. Chris Christie’s budget plan:

“As Gov. Christie once said, taking away property tax relief from people in a recession is the wrong decision and an assault on the middle-class. Unfortunately, under Gov. Christie’s budget that assault is under way, both to the middle-class and to senior citizens.

“Under Gov. Christie’s plan, New Jersey will soon see massive property tax increases that will disproportionately slam working class New Jerseyans and senior citizens while the wealthy benefit from a tax break.”
