Benson & Egan Jones Announce Public Meetings with DOT and NJ Transit to Discuss Current Line Suspensions, Service Improvement

(Trenton) – In an effort to provide up-to-date information on restoration of service and respond to other concerns and issues commuters face, Assembly Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee Chairman Daniel Benson and Vice Chairwoman Patricia Egan Jones invites residents to join legislators and New Jersey Department of Transportation Commissioner Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti for public meetings held at several New Jersey Transit rail stations around the state beginning Tuesday, February 19.

“The public deserves answers and better communications on progress to restoration of an acceptable level of service. As a request of our Committee, we hope the Commissioner and NJ TRANSIT use these opportunities to not only truly listen to riders experience but use them to inform their action to resolve the continuing problems facing this agency,” said Benson (D-Mercer, Middlesex).

“I am pleased that the Department of Transportation and NJ Transit are willing to come together and inform commuters about the much-needed resumption of these critical rail lines,” said Vice-Chair Assemblywoman Jones (D-Camden, Gloucester). “Riders have far too long been kept in the dark about when they should expect to see a return to normal service, and this move toward transparency is a step in the right direction.”
