Benson: Energy Master Plan built around clean energy, not coal, will guard N.J. against climate change, boost economy

(TRENTON) — Assemblyman Dan Benson (D-Mercer/Middlesex) had the following published recently in the Newark Star-Ledger:

“New Jersey’s energy future is at risk and the impacts of climate change are already threatening our state. Right now, we are at a crossroads as the state’s energy regulator, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, prepares the state’s Energy Master Plan.

“Throughout my 12 years of public service, and my professional career in telecom and energy policy, it’s always been clear to me that our energy choices drive our economic future. I’m always looking for ways to make life better for New Jersey’s hard-working families. When I look ahead at New Jersey’s energy future, two choices jump out as the easiest and most obvious: we need to move from dirty fuel sources to clean energy and invest more in energy efficiency…”
