Benson, Jones Statement on Reopening of Critical Rail Lines for NJ Commuters: Brings Us Closer to Being Back on Track

(TRENTON) – Assembly Transportation Committee Chair Dan Benson (D-Mercer, Middlesex) and Vice-Chair Patricia Egan Jones (D-Camden, Gloucester) issued the following statement on today’s announcement that NJ Transit will re-open the Princeton Dinky and the Atlantic City Rail Lines on May 12:

“This is welcomed news for Atlantic City and Princeton residents who depend on these transit lines daily and have been waiting for their service to be returned. As summer quickly approaches, the early reopening of the Princeton Dinky and the Atlantic City commuter rail lines brings us closer to being back on track with more complete rail service in the state.

“We thank Governor Murphy, the DOT Commissioner, and the NJ Transit Executive Director for their diligent work to resolve this issue which affected numerous New Jersey residents and commuters. There is a lot more to do to fix NJ Transit. The Assembly Transportation Committee will continue to monitor and do what is necessary to ensure the safety and dependability of service for all riders.”
