Benson Praises Federal Funding for Upgrades to NJTRANSIT Trenton Transit Center

(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Daniel Benson (D-Mercer, Middlesex), chair of the Assembly Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee, released the following response to the announcement that the Federal Railroad Administration awarded $18.3 million to NJTRANSIT to upgrade the Trenton Transit Center:
“Before the pandemic, almost 3,700 riders filled the Trenton Transit Center every weekday. The station connects passengers to various NJTRANSIT, Amtrak and SEPTA lines, making it a vital link for commuters from the New York and Philadelphia areas. This funding will advance critical infrastructure projects to make the transit center more accessible to people with disabilities, upgrade canopies to protect riders in inclement weather, and make other safety upgrades to mitigate congestion. One day when crowds again fill the Trenton Transit Center, they will have a far more comfortable experience.”
