Bipartisan Resolution to Honor the Contributions of Teachers During the COVID-19 Crisis Passes Assembly

Measure Sponsored In-Part by Assemblywoman Vainieri Huttle

As New Jersey’s K-12 students continue to learn remotely for the remainder of the school year, the fully Assembly passed a resolution 80-0 on Thursday to recognize “National Teacher Appreciation Week” and commemorate the tireless contributions of teachers during this period of unprecedented crisis.

Sponsor of the measure (AR154), Assemblywoman Vainieri Huttle (D-Bergen), issued the following statement:

“Our educators are owed the biggest debt of gratitude. They are putting in countless hours with students, parents and fellow teachers to ensure each child stays engaged and supported while learning from home. They are doing it with fewer resources, and many are also doing it while caring for own children.

“Their hard work and dedication to ensure every child’s educational needs are met in this time of great uncertainty does not go unnoticed. The work they are doing is essential.”

Assembly Republicans BettyLou DeCroce (R-Essex, Morris, Passaic) and John DiMaio (R-Hunterdon, Somerset, Warren) also sponsor the measure.
