Burzichelli: A Responsible Budget Approach

(TRENTON) – Assembly Appropriations Chairman John Burzichelli (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland) released the following statement Friday after the Assembly Budget Committee released legislation (A-3200) to implement a state budget for the fiscal year starting July 1, 2012:

“Fiscal responsibility must be our priority, and that’s what this budget plan would achieve.

“Everyone supports tax cuts, but they must be meaningful tax cuts focused on property tax relief and they must be paid for responsibly.

“Tax cuts proposed for political expediency that mainly benefit the wealthy anyway and impair the state economy’s ability to rebound would be an unwise course.

“Under this plan, the middle-class is the priority, and tax cuts will come if the money is realized.

“That is the responsible approach and the right thing to do. It’s something everyone should support.”
