BURZICHELLI: CHRISTIE TAX HIKES SLAM SENIORS

Assemblyman John Burzichelli (D-Gloucester/Cumberland/Salem) released the following statement Tuesday morning after the Republicans approved a budget that cuts property tax relief for senior citizens:

“Senior citizens are losing $1,295 in property tax relief under Gov. Christie’s budget, while millionaires get their tax break. On top of that, senior citizens enrolled in the Senior Freeze program won’t get any increased relief despite the looming property tax increases. And of course the governor has cut off enrollment in this valuable program. Gov. Christie has warned, ‘If you tax them, they will leave.’ Indeed he was right, but it will be senior citizens who will be leaving our state.”
