BURZICHELLI: GOVERNOR’S LACK OF COMMITMENT TO WOMEN’S HEALTH CARE MORE & MORE DISTURBING

(TRENTON) – Assemblyman John Burzichelli (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland) released the following statement Thursday as the Assembly Budget Committee heard from the Department of Health and Senior Services on the governor’s continued lack of support for women’s health care:

“The governor’s continued lack of support for women’s health care is becoming more disturbing by the minute.
“These are indeed tough economic times, but investing in women’s health care is smart fiscal policy that saves taxpayers money and controls health insurance costs.
“Still, even when the money is available, the governor just finds another excuse not to provide health care to middle-class and poor women and their children. In fact, many men also rely on the health care services that governor has cut, so the impact is wide-ranging.
“The governor’s conservative ideology should not trump common sense, but giving tax cuts to millionaires and denying health care to women and their families is wrong.”
