Burzichelli: It’s Time to Match Rhetoric with Reality

(TRENTON) – Assemblyman John Burzichelli (D-Cumberland/Gloucester/Salem) on Wednesday called on the Christie administration to start matching rhetoric with reality after the State Treasurer appeared before the Assembly Budget Committee to discuss the latest projected revenue shortfalls.

“Despite the Governor’s claims, New Jersey is not firmly out of the grips of this recession. This is not counter-spin, this is reality based on the latest revenue estimates we’ve received.

“It’s time for the Christie administration to start matching rhetoric with reality. With unemployment rising again and revenue falling short of projections, it’s hardly cause to celebrate and certainly not grounds to declare a ‘comeback.’

“We need to sit down and start having serious conversations about how to close this budget gap while still delivering on our promise to provide tax relief to middle class homeowners and seniors,” said Burzichelli.
