Burzichelli Legislation Allowing for Cashless Payment at Certain Sports and Entertainment Venues Clears Full Assembly

(TRENTON) – In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Assembly member John Burzichelli (D-Cumberland, Gloucester, Salem) sponsors legislation that would allow cashless payments at concession stands and merchandise shops at sporting and entertainment venues.

The goal of the bill (A-4631) is to decrease physical contact in venues with a seating capacity of 10,000 or more and give them the ability to shorten wait times by using cashless payment systems.  The Assembly passed the measure 63-9-3 on Monday.

Following Assembly passage, Assemblyman Burzichelli issued the following statement:

“COVID-19 has made it very difficult to enjoy sports and entertainment the way we are accustomed to.  This bill will enhance the safety for the people at venues and greatly decrease the time someone waits in line.  We want to reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19 as much as possible and give people a more comfortable experience at these events.”
