Assembly Democrat Ralph Caputo (D-Essex), one of the lead sponsors of the Horizon compromise legislation, issued the following statement on the end of the stalemate that will lead to the passage of the FY 2018 state budget:
“This is a fair compromise for everyone. Our biggest challenge has been getting a budget passed that meets the needs of the people of this state, one the Governor will sign, while also making sure Horizon ratepayers are not thrown under the bus.
“I think we’ve accomplished all that while ensuring that state parks and beaches will reopen in time for the nation’s birthday and, most importantly, critical state services will resume as usual.”
