(31st Legislative District) – Assemblyman Nicholas A. Chiaravalloti (D- Hudson) released the following statement on Thursday:
“An annual internal audit of the Bayonne School District revealed a $2.2 million deficit within the Bayonne School District’s 2015- 2016 operating budget. In learning this news and with a goal to better understanding the current situation, I have joined with Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto in requesting the Office of the State Auditor to conduct a performance audit. I look forward to working with the school administration and the board members on this matter. Hopefully the community can have a full understanding of the budget shortfall’s impact.
“I am currently working with the board of education to ensure that this shortfall does not imminently impact the education of Bayonne students.”
