With the Affordable Care Act (ACA) 2020 open enrollment period quickly approaching, Chair of the Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee Dr. Herb Conaway (D-Burlington) released the following statement:
“I want to remind everyone that the ACA open enrollment period will begin on November 1. Anyone who is not already covered will have until December 15 to enroll in a health insurance plan for 2020.
“Regardless of what happens at the federal level, New Jersey has taken steps to move towards our own state-operated health insurance exchange and ensure the continuation of important aspects of the ACA.
“Emphasis has been placed on safeguarding women’s healthcare when it comes to coverage of certain contraceptives and breastfeeding support; preserving coverage for young adults on their parents’ insurance plan; and protecting public health through coverage of preventative immunizations, screenings and other vital services.
“But in the meantime, I encourage everyone to be conscientious of the approaching deadline and make sure to enroll themselves in a health insurance plan that will guarantee medical care if and when it becomes necessary.”
