CONAWAY & CONNERS: CHRISTIE CUTS COST 7TH DISTRICT TAXPAYERS

(7th LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT) – Assemblymen Jack Conners and Herb Conaway, M.D. on Monday noted a nonpartisan analysis shows Gov. Chris Christie’s budget vetoes will cost 7th Legislative District taxpayers more than $27.6 million in school aid.
The governor’s budget represents a 13.2 decrease compared to the Democratic budget plan Conaway and Conners (both D-Burlington/Camden) supported.
“Our plan would have restored the unfair cuts the governor has made to suburban and rural schools and benefited children and taxpayers in those districts,” Conners said. “It was a sound and reasonable plan to value education and property tax relief.”
“The governor has once again made it very clear that he supports tax breaks for millionaires over property tax relief and education aid for working class residents,” Conaway said. “Our budget would have provided meaningful relief in a responsible way to taxpayers, but this governor instead held strong to his mantra of tax breaks for the rich.”
