Assemblymen Herb Conaway, Jr. (D-Burlington) on Tuesday called on Gov. Christie to heed his own message delivered in today’s State of the State Address to work together to tackle the growing health care needs of residents across New Jersey.
“Among the many glaring omissions in the Governor’s speech today was a lack of any vision in terms of addressing the health care crisis in this state.
“Since the Governor took office, at least six women’s health care clinics have closed as a result of his elimination of funding for women’s health care, and two in Burlington County have been forced to scale back services and turn away thousands of patients. Additionally, the fate of health care for the roughly one million uninsured in our state remains up in the air because of the Governor’s recent veto of legislation to create access to affordable health insurance.
“Rebuilding the towns ravaged by Sandy is a critical priority, but we have many people across this state who have been suffering for the last three years and they need our attention too. These are critical problems that affect the very well being of our residents and they require a bipartisan, coordinated effort to solve them,” said Conaway.
