Assemblyman Herb Conaway (D-Burlington) released the following statement regarding the unacceptable comments of President Trump about the four Congresswomen of Color Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Ayanna Pressley and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, also known as the ‘Squad’:
“I want to make it clear that I wholeheartedly support the ‘Squad’ of Congresswomen, as well as my fellow members of the Black and Latino Legislative Caucuses, in their stand against injustice. I stand with them, because I stand with everyone who fights for justice and fairness in our society.
“The best elected officials use their platform to motivate and uplift individuals.
“It is unfortunate these particular members of Congress have had to use their platform to respond to xenophobic remarks offered by the President.
“I stand with my fellow lawmakers because we can and will be better than this.”
