Assemblyman Herb Conaway, Jr., M.D. (D-Burlington), Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee Chair:

“It’s no secret that we and this nation are embarking on a new era where people who currently do not have insurance will be able to obtain it by participating in exchanges, not only here in New Jersey, but across the country.

“And what I wanted to do for the members of the [Assembly Health and Senior Services] Committee, so that we can inform the larger legislative body, to hear information on how that care is going to be delivered at the nitty gritty level, if you will.

“What kinds of things will patients see in the future, with respect to how their care will be delivered? What are the expectations of these new delivery models? Certainly, the point is that we want better outcomes at less costs. And by integrating what we heard today, which I thought was very important, by putting together physicians with nurse practitioners and other physician extenders we can achieve better outcomes for patients. This has been show in studies and we are seeing it here in New Jersey, by those health systems who are using an integrated model of care to improve the healthcare outcomes for their patients.”
