Legislators Collecting Food, Personal Care Items for those Serving as Military Police in Afghanistan
(Trenton) – Assembly Democrats Herb Conaway, MD and Troy Singleton announce a holiday supply drive to collect items for New Jerseyans serving with the 508th Military Police Company currently deployed to Afghanistan. The legislative office will be gathering much needed food and personal care items to send to 145 soldiers in the company.
“Let’s continue the season of giving into the New Year by supporting those who sacrifice so much in defending freedom overseas,” said Conaway (D-Burlington). “These items are personal requests by the troops of this military company. By meeting their needs, we can help make their deployment in Afghanistan a little more comfortable and show them we truly appreciate their dedication.”
“This company includes 145 of New Jersey’s sons and daughters risking their lives daily policing the frontline and keeping peace,” said Singleton (D-Burlington). “Many of these items are critical comforts of home, inaccessible to many overseas. This care package will let them know they are loved, missed and appreciated for their invaluable service.”
Items must be collected, organized and ready for shipping by January 31, 2013. Donation may be dropped off at the legislative offices of Assemblymen Herb Conaway and Troy Singleton: 20000 Horizon Way, Suite 190 Mount Laurel, NJ 08054 or 8008 and Rt. 130 N, Bldg C, Suite 450 Delran, NJ 08075.

The Holiday Supply Drive will collect the following items personally requested by the soldiers:

Slim Jims and beef jerky
Tuna meals in foil packages
Granola and protein bars, trail mix, cashews, peanuts, mixed nuts and dried fruits
Gatorade powder mix, Lipton tea or Crystal Light powder for water bottles
Ritz crackers, peanut butter crackers, Oreos, Chips Ahoy, Nilla Wafers and Goldfish
Gum and candy (Twizzlers, Sour Patch Kids, Mike and Ikes, Swedish Fish)
Hot sauces (local favorites especially)
K-Cups, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, Folgers and Hawaiian Kona coffee
Personal Care:
Scope or Listerine mouthwash
AXE body wash, Dove body wash and shampoo
Hand sanitizer and Gold Bond foot powder
Ibuprofen, Aleve, Advil, etc
Premium razors such as Gillette Pro-Glide Fusion
Gel shaving cream (Note: aerosols are prohibited in shipping)
