Consumer Privacy Protections, Duel High School/College Enrollment, Atlantic County Job Creation & Protecting Home Energy Assistance Up Monday

(TRENTON) – Legislation to protect consumer personal information and credit reports, help high school students earn college credit, create jobs and economic growth around Atlantic City International Airport and prevent fraud in the low-income home energy assistance program highlight Monday’s Assembly committee hearings.

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
· A-1096 (Downey/Caride/Moriarty) – Authorizes parent or guardian to place security freeze on child’s consumer report; A-1360 (Kennedy) – Requires certain notifications and free credit reports for customers following breach of security of personal information within business or public entity; and A-3043 (Vainieri Huttle) – Requires consumer reporting agencies to increase protection of consumers’ personal information. 10 a.m. Consumer Affairs.
· A-3636 (Jasey/Schaer/Calabrese) – Establishes Dual Enrollment Study Commission. 10 a.m. Higher Education.
· A-3773 (McKeon/Jasey/DeAngelo) – Allows gross income tax deductions for contributions to the NJBEST program. 10 a.m. Higher Education.
· A-3676 (Mazzeo/Armato/Giblin) – Creates Garden State Growth Zone at Atlantic City International Airport and surrounding area. 2 p.m. Commerce and Economic Development.
· A-2540 (DeAngelo) – Requires DCA to verify that low-income home energy assistance benefits are not awarded to deceased individuals; A-2543 (DeAngelo) – Requires DCA to verify income of low-income home energy assistance benefit applicants; and A-2544 (DeAngelo) – Requires DCA to provide certain information on low-income home energy assistance program, annually update its low-income home energy assistance program handbook, and provide quarterly training sessions on administering program. 10 a.m. Telecommunications and Utilities.
· A-3162 (Calabrese) – Creates certain assistance programs for businesses owned by lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender persons, by persons with a disability, and by veterans. 2 p.m. Commerce and Economic Development.
· A-2963 (Johnson) – Provides sales and use tax exemption for sales of fuel cell devices and systems and certain tangible personal property powered by fuel cells. 2 p.m. Commerce and Economic Development.
