20th District Legislators Team Up With Red Cross to Collect Donations for Constituents Most Affected by Superstorm
As many residents throughout New Jersey continue to face the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Senator Raymond Lesniak, Assemblyman Joseph Cryan and Assemblywoman Annette Quijano (all D-Union) have joined with the American Red Cross to have their district office serve as a donation drop-off center for residents severely affected by the storm.
Beginning on Tuesday, November 13, the 20th Legislative District office will be collecting preferably new items such as: blankets, coats, clothing, non-perishable food items, water, and cleaning products to drop off to local American Red Cross sites.
“The devastation that New Jersey has endured due to Hurricane Sandy has been more than most residents have ever seen in their lifetimes,” said Lesniak. “Donating items to local families who have lost their homes and personal possessions is a start to helping them rebuild their lives.”
“By working with the America Red Cross, we hope to help provide assistance to those families who were most severely affected by Hurricane Sandy,” said Cryan. “We encourage residents who were spared the worst of the storm to open their hearts and donate to their neighbors in this time of need.”
“The recovery of Hurricane Sandy will take months for many families who have been displaced or had severe damage to their homes. We will be collecting items such as blankets and winter clothing to help them keep warm during the upcoming winter months, and non-perishable food items, water and cleaning supplies for families to have once they are able to return to their homes,” said Quijano.
Items can be donated by dropping them off at the 20th Legislative District Office, located at 985 Stuyvesant Avenue in Union.
