Danielsen to Host Veterans Claims Clinic

VA Representative Will Be Available to Help Veterans, Service Members with Claims

Assemblyman Joseph Danielsen will join the Newark regional office of the Department of Veterans Affairs on Tuesday to host a veterans claims clinic. The event will give those who have served in the military an opportunity to get one-on-one guidance on how to receive benefits and entitlements.

Veterans and service members and their dependents are invited to attend the claims clinic on Tuesday, May 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Franklin Township Municipal Building, 475 Demott Lane, Somerset, NJ 08873. Check-in will begin at 9:30 a.m., and a light breakfast and refreshments will be served at 10 a.m.

“Too many men and women who were willing to put their lives on the line in defense of the United States of America essentially forfeit benefits that they earned and deserve simply because they’re unaware of what’s available,” said Danielsen (D-Middlesex/Somerset), who served as an Army reservist. “Reaching out to those who served is a critical part of meeting our obligation to ensure veterans receive the health care, education, housing and employment services they need.”

The clinic will allow participants to receive information about benefits and entitlements, submit a claim for benefits or obtain information about the status of a pending VA claim. Lillie Nuble, director of the VA’s Newark office, will be available to assist individuals who are interested in and eligible to receive VA benefits. State and county veterans service representatives and representatives from local organizations that serve veterans also will be present.

Interested parties should RSVP to Robert Zuckerman of Danielsen’s legislative office at 732-247-3999 or rzuckerman[at]njleg.org.
